You say no skills but I would disagree. Successful minimalism requires a skill that I don't necessarily have but want to develop. Funny you mention the backgrounds. Time was that as a matter of course removed every single background. Then I saw some brilliant scene icons that used the background and thought, "I need to learn how to use a scene." And now I'm sitting here thinking that perhaps that's a key to liking my SPN icons more: removing the backgrounds. They're almost always an ugly green or black anyway.
