19. 112 Icons: IBAR Celebration

I was hoping to have more new icons in celebration of International Blog Against Racism Week but I've run out of time. I started with pics snagged from the PicSpam in Sage-Theory's LJ, augmented it with a few pics from Eureka and Babylon 5, sprinkled in a tiny bit of CSI: NY at the request of jalabert, and couldn't resist pulling up some of my older icons to finish it off.

Dualla is one of the most gorgeous women on television these days. A photo of her can't help but make stunning icons, I think. I'd be happy to do a tutorial for #9. It really isn't a horrible process and sometimes I'm just blocked in making new icons. It gives me a way to keep my hand in the game.

Since you use PS, feel free to ask for the files any time you want. I usually keep the *.psd file for anything I do. Sometimes I end up making several files for an icon but 98% of them are a single file.

If you want to point me to pics, I'd be very grateful. I've seen a few that I intend to grab the next time I'm blocked on making icons but I'm always grateful for links if someone else has already found a delish pic.

The world is an unfair place. I've had the privilege of seeing Christopher Judge in person. Teal'c is gorgeous, to be sure, but CJ is charming and has the most devastating smile. He's a beautiful man and fandom is blind.

It has taken me so much longer than I anticipated to get these made. I've had absolutely no luck in making icons lately. I've tried several times to make these but I've never been satisfied with what I managed to come up with. Here's what I have for now:



I'll continue to trying but so far I've had no luck. Part of it is lack of photos. Google images didn't turn up much beyond some posed publicity photos. Mostly, though, it's my current slump. Hopefully by now you've found someone else to make some because Rena really is stunning.

The one that brought me to your journal was Teal'c meditating ( kelnoreeming...) --good clear image, and the peaceful strength is there.

I will credit. The sepia toned Teyla is very distinctive looking-- I really like it.

Thank you! I'm so happy that Teal'c kel-no-reeming is out and about in LJ Land! I love to icon him but he doesn't get snurched very often. You already had a very nice Teal'c there *points to the icon you used* so I'm glad to have contributed to your collection.

There's someone else who loves sepia! I love sepia tones, sepia prints, sepia colorings but they haven't proven popular. *shrug* I make some icons solely because they please me and some icons because I think other people will like them, too. The sepia are firmly of the former category.

I know I am very late coming to this entry. I recently discovered SG1 Found season 1 for $5 at Sams and thought I might try the series out. Ended up getting myself and my husband hooked on it. LOL

Welcome to the fandom!!!!!

SG-1 is a lovely show. I'm jealous of you, discovering it now. Early SG-1, the first 3 years especially, are my absolute favorite but there are gems throughout its TEN years. That's a lot of catching up for you and your husband. :) New fans are always welcome. Now that canon is closed (mostly), you can avoid all the fandom angst and just enjoy the parts that are exceptional.

I'm really bad about mixing seasons in a single post of icons, though, so I hope I don't end up spoiling you. Of course you're welcome to the Chris Judge and Teal'c icons. He's a beautiful man, no?

Thanks! We are on season 2 right now and still loving it. Fandom angst tends to amuse me so I am almost sorry I missed most of it. I have a feeling there were some epic dramas within this fandom.

Don't worry about spoiling me, I am one of those that ends up reading or snooping around for spoilers anyway. I am also in the Dr. Who/Torchwood fandom and that is one spoilery group! LOL

And yes, Teal'c has easily become my favorite character. Chris Judge plays him so wonderfully. My husband and I find ourselves often trying to make his face when in discussion about something. :)

Season 2 is good, good times. :) Fandom angst in SG-1 has left a lot of people on each side of the pairing-wars bitter and unable to enjoy a main character. (I have pairing opinions but I've avoided the bitterness, happily.) I hate that because it really does make mute the squee.

I had the honor of having lunch with Chris Judge (and 6 other fans) a few years back and he's really a very nice person and seems to be an involved Dad. He's got the most gorgeous smile and he's amazingly good fun when he's on-stage, talking to fans. Very generous and a somewhat, er, boisterous sense of humor. Also? I think he is an amazing actor; what he did non-verbally for Teal'c in the pilot was amazing and his Teal'c has been the most consistent of the characters. Partly it's writing but it's also the acting.

He has a new project, Rage of Angels, that he has developed, is writing, and will be starring in along with Michael Shanks -- I don't know if you knew. MGM has given it the green light so a pilot and a movie (I think) are definitely going to be made. My fingers are crossed that we'll have him back on our televisions soon!

I love so many of these and I pimped the post far and wide at the time. Your icons of Dee/Kandyse are hands down some of the best ones in the fandom. I've been using # 9 ever since you posted it. I recently deleted it by accident and was very upset when it didn't show up on my icon-list. It was back up very quickly *g*

lol! Any comment, any time is good. :) I've been astounded at how little attention fandom has paid to Dee. Yes, I know they screwed with her character's likability, first breaking Billy's heart and then having the audacity to come between two popular characters, but the *actress* is stunning and she's a good actress. That icon I made is so very simple so I think that it ranks so highly in the fandom's icons of Dee/Kandyse says some unhappy things about fandom. There should be a million highly creative, beautifully composed icons featuring her. Sometimes, fandom makes me very sad.

However, I very much appreciate the pimping and the comment and all the really nice things you've said. Thank you!
