Date: 2010-08-16 10:46 am (UTC)With regard to #69 - at Polaris Mark Shepard talked about kissing guys and how he doesn't have any problem with it but many of the guys do.
Some random comments - I voted for 26, it is spectacular. The background really enhances the texture on 16. I think 64 turned out best of the 3 because of the high contrast.
But they are all super.

Date: 2010-08-16 12:41 pm (UTC)Thanks for the detailed feedback. I think you know how much that turns me on. :) #62-64 were the bane of my existence. The cap is SO awesome; Jared does an excellent smolder. I could NOT get the color to work for me. I made #63 three different times and hated them all. The B/W fixes the color issues but I really wanted that in color.

Date: 2010-08-16 02:55 pm (UTC)How are 6, 11, 12 & 14 so freaking amazing? The clarity and light on their faces is really well done. And the coloring really brings out his eyes on #13 so much that I think I'm having a fangirl moment. *sigh* which is luckily tempered by his antics in #48
62-64 - OMG that expression! ROFL! (no comment about the expression on 67 - *snicker*)
#68 coloring is fantastic and I like the texture you added to the top - it give the icon a nice sense of space.
#69, is that Mark Sheppard?
Have you ever thought of doing a tutorial for ones like 16 & 17? These definitely have your mark on them, the amazing contrast and soft tones - how do you DO that? (and more importantly, can I translate it to something in PSElements?)

Date: 2010-08-16 04:32 pm (UTC)I always worry that I'm going to spoil you. I figure you're already spoiled by being anywhere near the fandom. I enjoyed the way the story unfolds and I think knowing it ahead of time does take away some of the excellent suspense.
I'm glad you liked the "in their faces" crops. They tend to be my favorite kind of icon to make because I love faces and their details.
Have you seen the Season 5 gag reel? I don't want to talk to you about it if not because it's a thing of beauty and I don't want to spoil you for it, either. What about in watching the show itself? You need to tell me where you are in the series so I don't accidentally spoil you.
#62-64: I would NOT have kept at trying to tame the color in that cap (I don't know the exact source of the footage but it has random magenta shifts in parts of some of the caps and controlling for it was a nightmare) if it weren't for his fabulous expression. Never did like any of the many attempts I made. *shrug*
#69 is, indeed, Mark Sheppard. He's everywhere!
I hadn't thought of doing a tutorial for them because I tend to assume that everyone knows how to do everything better than I do. I don't feel like a special snowflake, if that makes sense. If you're interested, I'd be happy to write one up. I'm no longer familiar with what PSE does and doesn't have tool-wise. I last used Version 4 and I think it's now on 8 or 9, yes? I'm using Photoshop CS4.
That Mary/John icon has a bunch of selective color layers, curves layers, coloring layers, and one feature - a vibrance layer - that I know was introduced with that generation of Photoshop. That's a minor, polishing layer that has no effect at all on the b/w version and a tweaking effect on the color so it isn't super-critical. Do you want a tutorial anyway?
