44 Stargate SG-1
10 Teryl Rothery & Michael Shanks as themselves or other roles
07 Eureka
25 Babylon 5
TEASERS:

Overall, not my favorite set. I haven't had much icon fu for the past month and I can see it in my lack of textures on a lot of these. However, these Janet Fraiser (SG-1) and Susan Ivanova (Babylon 5) icons have been burning a metaphorical hole in my pocket since right before I hit my slump so I'm posting regardless. EDIT: I didn't mean to imply people should bolster my ego. There are icons within this batch that I like. As a set, though, I'm less pleased than I'd like to be. Too many of these seem like something I could have made 8 months ago; I prefer to feel as if I'm improving.

Date: 2007-10-15 04:39 am (UTC)I didn't take them (I already had, like, ten saved :D), but "Lucky Fork" and "Pair o' Jacks" are genius. ;-D

Date: 2007-10-15 09:38 pm (UTC)But I also have an unfulfilled (like, forever) desire to have the almost kiss between Talia and Ivanova (the way it should have been!). If I beg, will you please make me one??? I am a total non-icon making person (unless I use piccies I've taken myself and just crop/resize, you know).
I guess it's just a co-incidence that I renewed my acct today and added extra userpics. [There are no co-incidences in life. Hee!]
Most appreciative hugs,
Helenka

Date: 2007-10-16 06:22 am (UTC)Also, thank you again for the selective color tut!! I dared try some selective coloring recently and for the first time I felt like I knew what I was doing and liked the outcome! I proceeded the ruin the icon by throwing poo at it (figuratively), but I was oh-so-thrilled to have conquered Selective Coloring at last. At that's all due to you!

Date: 2007-10-17 02:13 pm (UTC)You're so very welcome for the tutorial! I'm thrilled to the Nth degree that you found it useful. I have no idea if what I do is the best way but it's what I figured out for working with it from the 200+ recipes that I tried. I'm very, very glad that it works for you! And I've now seen your icons so you won't convince me that you threw poo at the icon. ;)

Date: 2007-11-15 05:16 pm (UTC)Wonderful sets. I especially love those two shirtless MS ones from '24,' and the last BSG one (
subtext -- great caption).I'll be snagging lots of SG-1 ones. :-)
(Oooh, I get to use comment editing for the first time! I was logged in as jd_commentfic when I opened this entry, and tried logging out and back in and pasting the comment I'd written, and ended up repeating the whole comment. I'm happy to see that the editing thingie lets you switch icons, too -- sometimes I've deleted and re-posted comments just to use a more appropriate icon, so yay. *g*)

Date: 2007-11-29 06:48 pm (UTC)I was always a huge Lyta fan but I wish we'd been able to have her AND the Ivanova/Talia story. *sigh* Alas, Ms. Thompson wanted out and there was nothing for it.
This was your first time comment editing? As soon as I knew it was possible, I began editing my every comment solely because I could! FINALLY a chance to fix the typos that evade my proof-reading. :)

Date: 2007-12-14 08:02 pm (UTC)Taking all the Jacks and Daniels. I particularly adore 1, 2, 6, and 9. In 6, you just control every single pixel in the frame, don't you; it's as clean and luminous as anything I've seen. And 9 is a brilliant and somehow subtly witty interpretation of that iconic cap. ::boggles:: Also taking 22, 23, and 25, which are all beautiful and original. I love the coloring in 23, especially the contrast between the red-orange of the lips and turquoise cast of the reflected light around the eyes, chin, and hair. And I love 36, just the sheer joy you capture in that moment. Gorgeous set!

Date: 2008-01-03 12:26 am (UTC)I completely love how #23 came out and it was a complete accident. Those colors and the lighting weren't obvious when I started playing but they just popped out when I was putzing around and I didn't really *do* anything. That's all Teryl's wonderful expression and the coloring AND lighting is a happy accident. I love that icon to pieces, though. :) I wish I could recreate it in new icons but so far attempts have failed. As for #36, there's hardly any way for that moment to turn out as anything other than wonderful, you know? The actors weren't yet aware of the slashy potential and they played it like two people who cared and, and, and...it's just one of my happiest t.v. moments. *sigh*
